Dr. Myrtle P. Alexander is the Founder, CEO & Board Chair of the Institute for Academic Management (IAM‑USA), the IAM-USA Foundation, and a candidate for Mayor of Washington, D.C. Her career blends academic excellence, international research, and practical workforce innovation.
Dr. Alexander served as a Business Professor, at Miami Dade College, teaching management, organizational behavior, and workforce readiness. Her academic work shaped her early understanding of how people learn, how organizations function, and how talent is developed.
From 2012 to 2018, she conducted doctoral practical research, at the University of St. Gallen, in Switzerland, studying the world’s most effective Education‑to‑Workforce system. She also completed exploratory analysis of the UK Apprenticeship Levy System, examining employer‑funded training models.
In 2017, drawing on her professorship and international research, she led a proof‑of‑concept upskilling initiative in the United Kingdom that produced measurable improvements in supervisory performance, communication, and productivity.
IAM‑USA, formally established in 2018, consolidates this academic and practical foundation into a U.S.‑ready, employer‑driven workforce model designed to strengthen education, employment, training, and entrepreneurship pathways.
Dr. Alexander is now advancing a bold vision to transform Washington, D.C. into the Workforce Capital of the Nation, including the repurposing of the J. Edgar Hoover Building into a National Education‑to‑Workforce Innovation Center.
